Overview
A rental car after an accident is covered only if your policy includes rental car coverage. A rental car is also called a courtesy car. Your policy documents show if you have this coverage. If you do, file a claim with your insurance company to get a rental car while your car is repaired.
This applies if you have a car insurance policy with YouSet and your car was damaged in an accident.
How to check if you have rental car coverage
- Sign in to your YouSet account
- Under your car insurance policy, select Documents
- Open your policy documents and look for any mentions of rental car coverage (it may be called "loss of use")
What you'll need to file a claim
- Your car insurance policy number. You’ll find it under Documents in your YouSet account.
- A short description of the accident
- The date and time of the accident
- Any documents about the accident, like a police report

Frequently asked questions
Does YouSet arrange my rental car?
No, YouSet does not arrange a rental car for you after an accident because YouSet is your insurance broker and doesn't handle claims. Your insurance company handles your claim and the process of getting a rental car.
Can I add rental car coverage to my policy?
Yes, you can add rental car coverage to your car insurance policy at any time. Rental car coverage only applies to accidents that happen after it's added, so it can't be used for an accident that already happened.
To add rental car coverage, see our How to make changes to your policy article.
