Overview
No, in most cases you don't need to cancel. You can transfer your home insurance to your new address instead, so you stay insured during your move and avoid a cancellation fee. If you won't need home insurance with YouSet after you move, you can cancel.
This applies if you have home, condo or tenant insurance with YouSet and you're moving.
Option 1: Transfer your policy to your new address
This is usually the best choice. You avoid the cancellation fee, and you stay insured during your move. See our Transfer your home insurance to your new home article.
Option 2: Cancel your policy
Choose this if you won't need home insurance with YouSet after your move. If you cancel before your expiry date, your insurance company usually charges a cancellation fee.
- Sign in to your YouSet account
- Under your Home insurance policy, select Modify Policy
- Select Cancellation and non-renewal
- Follow the steps on the screen
What happens after
- YouSet reviews your request and sends it to your insurance company
- You get a confirmation email within 48 hours
Additional info
- Keep your insurance until you've fully moved out. Your belongings are still at risk during the move
- If you're buying a home and moving out of a rental, see our Switch your tenant insurance when you buy a home article
