Frequently asked questions
Will adding or removing an occasional driver change my price?
Yes, it can. Adding a driver can raise your price, depending on the driver's experience. Removing a driver can lower it. You'll know the exact amount once YouSet reviews your request. If your price goes up, YouSet emails you before the change is final.
Can the occasional driver drive my car before I get the confirmation email?
It's best to wait until you get your confirmation email from YouSet. Until then, the occasional driver isn't listed on your policy. If an unlisted driver has an accident in your car, your claim could be affected.
Can a removed driver still drive my car?
No. Once a driver is removed from your policy, they shouldn't drive your car. If they have an accident in your car, your claim could be affected.
How many occasional drivers can I add?
The number of occasional drivers you can add depends on the insurance company listed on your car insurance policy. YouSet checks your insurance company's limit when you send your request.
Can I remove the main driver from the policy?
Yes, you can. What happens next depends on who owns the car:
- If you remove the main driver and an occasional driver on the policy owns the car, the owner becomes the main driver.
- If you want to remove the car's owner and keep only the other drivers, it depends on the insurance company on your policy. Some insurance companies allow a driver who doesn't own the car to be the main driver. Others don't.
We recommend keeping the car's owner on the policy, at least as an occasional driver, to avoid problems later.
To remove the main driver, follow the same steps as removing an occasional driver.
