Overview
You can ask to change your home coverage from your YouSet account. For example, you can increase your policy liability coverage from $1 million to $2 million, change your deductible, or add optional coverage. If your price changes, YouSet emails you the new price before the change is final.
This applies if you have a home insurance policy with YouSet and want to change your coverage.
What you can change
- Liability coverage: pays for damage or injuries you cause to others. You can increase it from $1 million to $2 million.
- Deductible: the amount you pay yourself before your insurance company pays for a claim.
- Optional coverage: for example, water damage or sewer backup.
- Coverage for your belongings: if you’ve bought expensive items or your belongings are worth more than your current coverage.

Frequently asked questions
When should I get $2 million in liability coverage?
It's a good idea if you have a higher risk of someone getting hurt or of damage to others' property. For example, if you have a pool, rent out part of your home, run a home daycare, or often drive in the United States.
Will changing my coverage change my price?
Usually. Adding coverage or lowering your deductible makes your price go up. Removing coverage or raising your deductible makes it go down. You’ll know the exact amount once YouSet reviews your request.
My landlord requires $2 million in liability coverage. What should I do?
Follow the steps above and ask to increase your liability coverage to $2 million. When the change is done, you’ll find your updated proof of insurance under Documents in your YouSet account. You can send it to your landlord.
I have home and car insurance. Do I need to change both?
Yes. Each policy has its own liability coverage. Ask for the change on each policy you want to update.
