Overview
The insurance companies YouSet works with each have their own rules for who and what they can cover. These rules are called underwriting criteria. If your online quote doesn't meet them, it may be denied. When this happens, YouSet suggests trusted partners who may offer more coverage options and be able to help you find the right policy for your unique needs.
This applies if your online quote was denied and you were advised to contact one of our trusted partners.
Common reasons a quote is denied
- Your claims history
- Driving offences
- Suspended licence
- A past policy that was cancelled for non-payment
- A gap in your insurance, or no past insurance history
- Details about your home, like the age of the roof, the wiring, or a wood stove
- Details about your car, like a modified or rebuilt car
- How you use your home, like renting it out or leaving it empty for a long time
What to do next
- Check the list of alternative providers that YouSet suggests
- Contact one of them
- Ask them about coverage that fits your situation
Frequently asked questions
Can I try again if I made a mistake?
Yes, start a brand new quote if you know you got any of your answers wrong. However, if your answers were correct, getting a new quote with the same details will likely give you the same result.
Can I get a quote with YouSet again later?
Yes, if your situation changes, for example your claims or driving record improves over time, you can get a new quote with YouSet later.
My online quote says to call a partner instead. What should I do?
Sometimes YouSet doesn’t have an insurance company that can offer you a policy. When that happens, we refer you to one of our partner brokers, who will try to find you coverage. Their contact information is on the page you were redirected to. Depending on the partner, you may need to call them directly or visit their website to continue and get a quote.
